Huntley Project families, we are preparing for this year’s Montana Aligned to Standards Through-Year (MAST) assessments for students in grades 3–8 in Math and English Language Arts. Testing will take place during three windows throughout the school year: October 19–December 11, January 11–March 5, and March 29–May 21.
MAST is designed differently than the old one-time end-of-year test. Students complete shorter testlets throughout the year, generally taking about 15–30 minutes each. The goal is to better align assessment with classroom instruction and provide useful information throughout the school year.
As always, one test does not tell the whole story about a student. These results are one piece of information we use alongside classroom work, grades, quizzes, district assessments, and everything our teachers see from students every day.
Families can help by encouraging students to do their best, getting a good night’s sleep, eating breakfast, and reminding them that this is simply another opportunity to show what they know.

Thank you to our families for continuing to work with us as we support our students throughout the year.
